The head of YouTube’s global partnerships; Robert Kyncl, recently took to the stage at CES 2012 and and announced that very soon 90% of all web traffic will be video.
He also said that within the next 10 years, 75% of all new channels will be Internet channels.
YouTube announced in December 2011 that 1 trillion hits were made in 2011 and that is anticipates 2012 to be an even bigger year ahead as more people and companies turn to the site to distribute Web ads, speeches and weekly video casts.
Using online video provides new and established brands the opportunity to reach out to different audiences throughout the world.
New channels will be created giving businesses and individuals the chance to connect with their customers in a an online world of video where it was once impossible to be discovered via film.
“The new movement not only takes on traditional television head-on by offering another medium to big brands, it also gives a platform to niche content creators — those who make videos for crochet fanatics, pet lovers, or classical music aficionados— that would likely never see the light of day on traditional media.” - Kyncl said.
So instead of just considering one video for your brand, its probably worth considering a whole channel experience. Right now it is early days, however the speed in which Video consumption is growing proves its worth starting right away.
This will not only allow you to connect with your audience on another level, but will also be a powerful marketing tool in gaining new customers and followers.
